Thursday, April 9th

Good morning from Mrs. McKnight!

Here is the link to today's morning meeting!

Today is Thoughtful Thursday! I miss all of the drawings that everyone use to make for me and I could hang on my door:( Will you draw a picture for me today and send it to me to hang on my virtual wall?

Our friend, G, has been working very hard at learning to tie his shoes. His persistence paid off! He wanted to share what he can do...

Literacy

  • Be the teacher day! You get to quiz your mom or dad on the muscle words. Get your muscle word list and read mom or dad one word at a time and have the write the word. Make sure to check their spelling.
  • Stretch out/tap out these words: lunch, chimp, march
  • Read from your reading bag for at least 10 minutes and log it in the CES Reading Challenge McKnight Daily Reading Log
  • Log onto Raz-Kids and complete 2 books
Math
  • Number Corner w/Mrs. E!

  • Do one page in your math problem solving book.
  • Math game of the day: Go Fish for 10!
You need a deck of ordinary playing cards with the face cards and 10s removed.
    1. Each player is dealt 5 cards.
    2. Each player looks for pairs from his or her cards that make 10.  Players put down the pairs of cards that make 10, and they draw new cards to replace them.
    3. Players take turns asking each other for a card that will make 10 with a card in their own hands.
If a player gets the card he or she asked for, he or she puts the pair down and picks a new card from the deck.
If a player does not get the card that he or she asked for, the player must "Go Fish" and pick a card from the deck.
If the new card makes 10 with a card in the player's hand, he or she puts the pair of cards down and takes another card.
If a player runs out of cards, the  player picks two new cards.
A player's turn is over when no more pairs can be made that make 10.
The game is over when there are no more cards.
Writing

  • Work on your How To project! Remember to choose a way to show your procedure. It could be with pictures, words, a video etc. Make sure you have all of the parts outlined in the videos that have been posted the last few days. With your permission I am hoping to share your How To project with your friends on our blog!
Habits of Mind Enrichment

Daily Check in
  • Please have your child complete the daily check-in at the end of each day! They may need some help typing the answer to the last question each day. McKnight K Daily Check-In
