Today the students were introduced to teen numbers! They used a dodecahedron (20 sided) die, 20 frame and rainbow chips to build teen numbers. These tools will be added to their Math Bags very soon.
Please have your child practice counting through the teens. 13, 14, 15 can often be tricky numbers to get through when counting. Your child can also practice showing you finger patterns for teen numbers. We use the language 10 and some more when talking about them. To show a teen number with fingers you start with 2 closed fists. First you open up both hands to show 10 fingers then you close your hands again and then only open up the "more" number. For the number 16 it would look like:
