Kindergarten Update 11/6

Wow! Maybe it's the time change, the first snow of the season, the insane number of days off for teacher inservice and other things, or the fact that I was out of the classroom on Monday but something is definitely brewing in kindergarten. This week we have spent a lot of time so far reviewing the expectations for kindergarten and our classroom rules. Please chat with your child about expected behaviors at school.

Just a reminder that there is no school this coming Monday, November 11th for teacher in-service.  ðŸ¤¦

New muscle word: am & at
The students learned that these are super power muscle words because if they can read and write these words, they can read or write lots of words! (at- cat, bat, rat, mat, etc.)

Letter for the week:
m for man
n for nut

Push & Pull: This week we started our science unit on forces. The students have been doing a great job identifying and finding examples of pushes and pulls. Today we went upstairs to Mrs. Horton's space and did stations. Here are some snapshots from our time up there.

Math Bags & Reading Bags:
This week the students began bringing home their Math and Reading Bags. I hope you are enjoying seeing their progress and what they are learning about. As a reminder, Reading bags will come home every Monday and Wednesday night. Their Math Bags will come home every Tuesday and Thursday night. It is VERY IMPORTANT that they bring their math bag or reading bag back the next day as we use them every day in the classroom.

Other information:
Chapstick- Many students are beginning to let me know that their lips are chapped. If your child is prone to chapped lips, please send them in with a tube of chapstick (with their name on it) that they can leave in their cubby here at school.

Snow Gear- The cold weather and snow have arrived. Please send your child in with warm weather gear (coat, hat, gloves, boots and snow pants (when applicable)) each day. We will go out for recess each day as long as the temperature is above 10 degrees.
