Kindergarten Update 9/13

Our first full week is complete and today was our 11th day of kindergarten. Considering it is Friday the 13th and there is a full moon tonight, I say we made out pretty well.

Highlights of the Week
On this beautiful sunny day the students filled their classroom 10 frame with stars!

  • They have been working this past week to fill it as a class. They earn stars when they work together to follow our classroom rules. Many of these stars were earned for being good listeners on the rug, walking nicely to and from specials and for doing a great job cleaning up. In honor of our nice day, their reward for filling their 10 frame was 20 minutes of outside play time this afternoon. Here they are under the giant Willow tree on the playground!

  • This afternoon we finished up our duct tape reading bags. Each year I make one of a kind duct tape bags with each of the students. Each child got to choose the colors for their bag. These bags will be used all year to store and transport their just right books. In October, these bags will be coming home twice a week so your child can practice reading to you.

(Please note that this picture was taken at 2:00pm this afternoon. I took probably 12 shots of this picture and as you can see, they were done for the day, lol! But the bags look great, don't they!?)

  • Today, the children had their first guidance class with Kathy Ferguson, our school counselor. She will be coming in every Friday to work with the students on a variety of topics such as feelings, impulse control, friendship, etc.

  • Muscle words: yes, no, I, a

  • Letters covered: c & o

  • Numbers covered: 0-5

That's all for now! Let me know if you have any questions.
