Class Rules, Art Gallery & Hand Washing

Happy Monday everyone! Our first Monday has been action packed so far. I spent some time in the classroom over the weekend and wanted to share some pictures of our classroom with you.

This is our classroom Art Gallery. Throughout this school year students will have their art work or photograph displayed in the Art Gallery. Featured here is their first project done with flair pens. Kindergarteners love to erase so having them work with flair pens is a great way for them to be extra thoughtful with their lines and letters and have them embrace any "mistakes" and make the best of them.

Last week the students and I worked together to brainstorm rules for our classroom. We kept adding and revisiting these rules over the course of a few days. This weekend I condensed their ideas into 8 rules for our classroom.

This morning our very own Nurse Reed came in to talk about the importance of handwashing. She read them a story about germs, modeled how germs spread with glitter (my room is now covered in red glitter), and talked about proper handwashing technique. Let's hope this helps to keep some sicknesses that are already popping up at bay!

Have a great week!
